Most people think the Angel of death comes to take a soul. She comes to escort and protect it from the creatures that feed on souls. Once a creature wraps their tentacles around a soul and pulls it into the abyss, you feel a slow drain of energy as they consume the essence.
The lost soul feels the teeth sink into feelings. The creature consumes all the love, hate, sorrow, and gratitude that made the person who they were. The pain of the feeding is intense, which creates more energy to be consumed. The pain is the last thing to fade.
“Stay close.” The angel instructed me. “The creatures in the abyss are worse than anything in Heaven or Hell.” I wished I would have listened to her.
